I did my first diet about two years ago. Over the past one and a half years my weight has been increasing as I have tried all the diets and exercise programs in the sun. Nothing seems to work for me. Up until six months ago I signed up for a weight loss workshop that taught me that I need to change my attitude towards food. It was then that I realized that I had made a lot of mistakes trying to lose weight.

In this article I am going to share with you eight mistakes that are wrong in my attempt to lose weight. I hope that by sharing my experience with other people in the world through the Internet, I can help people avoid my mistakes. Thus, here are eight missteps I made while attempting to get more fit.

1. I Started Avoiding Breakfast:

Most people trying to lose weight believe that eating less and avoiding food can help them lose fat. And a meal that is very easy to avoid is breakfast. The biggest mistake to make when dieting to lose weight. When you leave home on an empty stomach in the morning, you are tempted to eat more of your morning tea and lunch. Also, the calories you eat for breakfast are easily burned during the day.

2. I’ll Eat One Day, Not The Next:

I can literally eat more than 2,000 calories a day, feel guilty, and finish eating about 700 calories the next day. If you are starving during the day, you are more likely to overeat at night, which will not help you lose weight. You should consume most of your calories in the morning.

3. I Bought Diet Food:

When I go shopping, I always look for foods that are marked, low in fat, healthy, etc. It is good practice, but you were buying these foods for the wrong reason. I bought these foods because, in my opinion, it means that I can do more. I will completely ignore the sizes of the pieces. If you eat diet foods in large portions, you are doing yourself no favors.

4. I Thought I Would Always Be Fat:

If you want to lose some weight, you have to break this mindset. Sometimes it feels like you are doing the right thing and not making progress, it is completely normal. You need to be happy and healthy and focus on achieving your goals. Try not to capture the “big picture”.

5. I Started Eating Salad As A Main Meal:

Is eating salad a good way to keep your calorie intake low? Yes, salads are much lower in calories than pizza, but is it satisfying? When you eat, you need to feel some satisfaction with what your mind has eaten. I found that a few hours later, when I was eating salad as a meal, I would come back looking for more food. I learned that eating a balanced diet with a little more calories is better than just having a salad and then a sandwich.

6. I Started My New Diets On Monday:

When I have a new diet that I decide to try, I always start it on Monday. This means that you will eat all weekend in such a way that you will never eat again. By doing this, I was setting myself up for failure.

7. I Was Embarrassed To Go To The Gym:

Acting and joining a gym was the hardest thing for me. I was always eager for people in the gym to look at me and talk about me. I really thought I was too fat to join. My advice is to join a gym! You will be happy. I hope to go to the gym now.

8. I Have Set Very High Goals:

Setting long-term goals is great, but these goals always seem a long way off. To keep your motivation higher, you need to set small, achievable goals that you can meet regularly. Set weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals. Once you’ve achieved your short-term goal, set a new one for next week.

You got it there, that’s all I did wrong. Now I’m looking at weight loss from a completely different perspective and it’s wrong. Now I help other people lose weight and stay healthy.
